US life expectancy drops 1.5 years during pandemic

Covid-19 deaths contributed to about 74 per cent of the decline in life expectancy among the general US population, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics found. Another 11 per cent of the decline can be attributed to increases in deaths from accidents or unintentional injuries, including drug overdose deaths, the Xinhua news agency reported.

Former Pak diplomat's daughter beheaded over breakup in Islamabad

Bol News reported the victim was identified as 27-year-old Noor Mukadam, daughter of Shaukat Muqakam, who served as Pakistan's Ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan. Police said she was stabbed and beheaded with a sharp instrument after firing, while another person was injured in the incident, the report said. A friend of the girl has been arrested for her alleged involvement in the incident, they said.
