NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has confirmed that currently, there are no plans by NATO to deploy any troops to Ukraine. He said this while speaking during his visit to Finland alongside Finnish President Alexander Stubb, stressing instead that attention would be given to upgrading the support to Ukraine through better frameworks.
And reinforcing this take by Stoltenberg, President Stubb repeated the position of Finland that "Finland has no plans to send troops to Ukraine." Rather, discussions are underway with their allies to ensure Ukraine gets the right support, reported the Xinhua news agency.
Briefing the media during a joint press conference, Stoltenberg focused on the belief that there is no sign of a direct military threat from Russia towards any of the members of the NATO, even after the dispute. He denied the concept of any "countdown to a war," noting that "This idea that there is a kind of a countdown to the next war is wrong."
And President Stubb reiterated the same point as Stoltenberg, saying that the idea of Russia attacking is unbelievable.
