Maldives Suspends Three Ministers for Making Remarks Against PM Modi

Their remarks surfaced after Prime Minister Modi promoted Lakshadweep as a tourist destination, without mentioning the Maldives.

The Maldivian government has taken action by suspending three ministers following their derogatory remarks against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his visit to Lakshadweep. Mariyam Shiuna, Malsha, and Hassan Zihan faced suspension due to their comments, as reported by X, Atoll Times.

Their remarks surfaced after Prime Minister Modi promoted Lakshadweep as a tourist destination, without mentioning the Maldives. This prompted the Maldivian ministers to express discontent. Shiuna referred to Prime Minister Modi as a "clown and puppet of Israel" in a post sharing a video, while Malsha used mocking emojis in another post featuring Modi's video, which was later removed due to criticism, particularly from Indian social media users.
