Joe Biden Offers Heartfelt Condolences for Wayanad Landslide Tragedy

At least 177 were killed and more than 200 people injured in landslides that hit the Wayanad district of Kerala on Tuesday. The death toll is expected to rise further with rescuers still digging through the rubble.

US President Joe Biden issued his deepest condolences over the tragic landslides in Kerala on Thursday. He praised the bravery of service members and first responders working on challenging recovery operations.

Biden said in a statement that he and Jill Biden offered 'deepest condolences' to those affected by the disaster. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this calamity, and we grieve with the families who have suffered such profound losses," Biden said.

He also acknowledged numerous acts of heroism by Indian service personnel and first responders at work in the recovery efforts. "We stand in solidarity with the people of India during this terrible time," he added.
