Jaishankar's Diplomatic Visit to UAE Begins with Symbolic Visit to BAPS Hindu Temple

After visiting the BAPS Hindu Mandir, Jaishankar tweeted appreciation for its being a potent symbol of friendship between India and the UAE and an important cultural bridge. The temple was inaugurated during the visit earlier this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is built on land donated by the UAE; it is a striking example of architectural skill.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Abu Dhabi to have extensive discussions with the counterpart of United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Before meeting him, Jaishankar paid a visit to the famous BAPS Hindu Mandir and joined the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations. On the table in the discussion was the Gaza situation and bilateral ties.

During the visit, Jaishankar interacted with monks from BAPS and underlined the temple as a bridge between nations and a beacon of global harmony. He then formally inaugurated the International Day of Yoga celebrations organized by the Indian Embassy at the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum, where participants coming from different walks of life participated in a yoga session.
 

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar's visit provided an opportunity to review the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE in the background of regional and global developments. Its vibrant Diaspora of 3.5 million in the UAE builds profile to bilateral ties that have strengthened since Prime Minister Modi's historic visit in 2015.

The CEPA, signed in February 2022, was not only a landmark on the waiving of tariff barriers and market access to the service providers but also recognized the UAE as being among the big investors in India, underpinning economic ties between the two countries.
