Israeli Infantry Enters Lebanese Village, Engages in Clashes with Hezbollah Fighters

About 50 Israeli soldiers crossed the Blue Line and advanced to Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the sources, who spoke anonymously.

Lebanese security sources say that an Israeli infantry force entered the Lebanese border village of Maroun al-Ras and crossed the Blue Line from different directions.

About 50 Israeli soldiers crossed the Blue Line and advanced to Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the sources, who spoke anonymously.

"The Israeli army paved the way for the advance with artillery shelling and intensive airstrikes that targeted dozens of towns and villages along the southern Lebanese border," said the sources.

"The Israeli army opened iron gates in the concrete wall separating Lebanon and Israel," they added, noting that "dozens of Israeli tanks were seen gathering near the borderline with Lebanon while being covered by Israeli drones and warplanes."

The sources indicated that as Israeli forces attempted to infiltrate at several points, including Yaroun, Alma al-Shaab, al-Wazzani, and Kfarchouba, Hezbollah confronted them and fired Katyusha rockets toward areas where Israeli forces were concentrating along the borders.

"The fighters of the Islamic Resistance bombarded a collection of enemy forces gathering in Maroun al-Ras with a barrage of rockets," Hezbollah said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Israel's army announced that the 91st Division entered the south of Lebanon to carry out "clear, targeted, and localized operations" against Hezbollah.

The third division Israel has dispatched into Lebanon is the third in a row. After the Paratrooper Division 98 and the Armored Division 36, which launched a land operation in Lebanon last Tuesday, came the 91st Division.

While tensions persist in the region, U.S. Central Command Commander Michael Erik Kurilla has visited Israel on Sunday, according to Israel's military. Kurilla and Israeli Chief of the General Staff Herzi Halevi have taken part in an assessment in Tel Aviv.

The visit by Kurilla is centered mainly on issues connected with current security issues, focusing primarily on Iran and the north front, according to the Israeli military.

Since September 23, Israel has kept hammering Lebanon without quarter, with at least 2,000 people losing their lives so far.
