The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei said that the recent military action the country recently carried out against Israel was "totally lawful and legitimate."
Speaking to a mass congregation during Tehran's weekly Friday prayers, Khamenei was commenting on the missile attack carried out by Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) which targeted Israel, according to Xinhua news agency, quoting from his office's website.
Khamenei emphasized that the steps of the armed forces of Iran are the least revenge against Israel, which he accused of committing "shocking crimes" together with the United States in the West Asia region.
He noted that Iran will "firmly, with courage, and firmly" assume its responsibilities, adding, "We will neither procrastinate and be lax nor rush to perform this task."
The Supreme Leader said such acts that would look logical, sane, and right at the appropriate time would be done by coming out from the insight of military and political leaders. He further stated that this missile attack was a precursor to any strike necessary in the future.
On Tuesday, the IRGC fired around 180 missiles at strategic locations in Israel. According to Iran, it was targeting "Israeli's assassinations" of well-known leaders such as Hamas Politburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and a senior IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan, among other things - and a larger amount of "malicious acts" with the help of the United States against the Lebanese and Palestinian groups.
