"Today, following the Constitutional Council's approval, the law suspending cooperation with the IAEA was sent to the administration," Ghalibaf tweeted on social media platform X.

During his speech, he accused the IAEA of being pro-Israeli, noting that it was a "guardian of Israel's anti-human interests." He emphasized that Iran was no longer willing to continue cooperation unless its nuclear facilities' safety was ensured.

Islamic Consultative Assembly's news agency ICANA announced the bill was approved during an open parliament session on Wednesday in a resounding vote — 221 'for' and a single abstention.

This legislative evolution takes place against a belligerent chain of events that started on June 13, when Israeli air strikes hit Iranian military and nuclear targets. The strikes are said to have killed many top Iranian commanders, nuclear experts, and civilians. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets.

Tensions continued to mount when, on Saturday, American forces launched attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Iran retaliated two days later by attacking the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

A ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel came into effect on Tuesday, ending the war temporarily after close to two weeks of clashes.
