Iran's President, Ebrahim Raisi, has strongly condemned the killing of Brigadier General Razi Mousavi from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in a Syrian airstrike, vowing that Israel will face severe consequences for the action. Raisi characterized the incident as a manifestation of the "frustration, helplessness, and incapacity" of the Israeli regime in the region.
The airstrike, which claimed the life of Brig Gen Mousavi, occurred in the Sayeda Zeinab area near Damascus, Syria. Mousavi, a high-ranking IRGC officer, held a crucial role in coordinating Iran's military operations in Syria.
While Israel has accused Mousavi of orchestrating the supply of arms and materials to Hezbollah, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, refrained from commenting on the incident during a press conference.
Israel contends that Iran, along with the IRGC, supports Hamas and Hezbollah, both of which allegedly collaborate to launch attacks against Israel. Despite these allegations, Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, issued a stark warning on social media, stating that Tel Aviv is in for a "tough countdown." The tensions between Iran and Israel appear to be escalating in the aftermath of this incident.
