He stressed the need to prevent the conflict from expanding geographically and highlighted the importance of pursuing a two-state solution that allows both Palestinians and Israelis to coexist peacefully.

During an interactive session at the Munich Security Conference earlier in the month, Jaishankar reaffirmed India's longstanding support for a two-state solution to the Palestine issue. He noted that India has upheld this position for decades and emphasized that the global consensus on the urgency of this solution has strengthened over time.

Meanwhile, Israel intensified its military operations in Gaza in response to a significant attack on Israeli cities by Hamas militants on October 7. The attack resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 individuals in Israel, with over 220 others being abducted, some of whom were later released during a temporary ceasefire.

According to Gaza authorities, nearly 30,000 individuals lost their lives in the Israeli offensive.
