In a statement, the group announced that Hezboallah attacked an Israeli military base near the northern city of Haifa Sunday night, causing casualties.
"In response to the targeting of civilians and the massacres committed by the Zionist enemy, the Islamic Resistance launched on Sunday evening a salvo of 'Fadi 1' missiles at the Carmel base south of Haifa," said the statement.
The Islamic Resistance will stand ready to defend Lebanon, its proud, oppressed people, and, if necessary, will do its duty in defending Lebanon without hesitation to deter the enemy from his arrogance and aggression, it added.
Meanwhile, Israeli army said that after late Sunday sirens in the northern Galilee region, around 15 rockets were detected crossing from Lebanon. The projectiles were intercepted and some were detected falling in the area, according to Xinhua news agency.
There are reported casualties as rocket hits caused by rockets in the city of Haifa and Tiberias as reported by Israeli media.
At least one person was reported injured when a rocket landed in Tiberias following a barrage launched from Lebanon, according to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency pre-hospital medical and blood services organization.
At least eight people were reportedly evacuated to Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa for medical treatment following the rocket attack.
The Israeli army has been mounting an intense attack on Lebanon since last September 23 with dangerous escalation with Hezbollah.
