Former Trump Lawyer Ordered to Pay $148 Million for Defaming Poll Workers

The panel awarded Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss approximately $16 million each for defamation by Giuliani, along with $20 million each for the emotional distress ensuing from threats and harassment catalyzed by his allegations.

A federal jury has mandated Rudy Giuliani, former attorney to Donald Trump, to compensate more than $148 million to two women poll workers due to unfounded claims they tampered with 2020 votes.

The panel awarded Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss approximately $16 million each for defamation by Giuliani, along with $20 million each for the emotional distress ensuing from threats and harassment catalyzed by his allegations. An additional $75 million in punitive damages was ruled to be divided between them.

After a four-day trial, the verdict was delivered, surpassing the initial $15 million to $43 million sought by Freeman and Moss.

Giuliani, responding to the outcome, asserted he regrets "not a damn thing."
