Former US President Donald Trump told a rambunctious Michigan crowd that attacks calling him a threat to democracy haven't shaken him. He said, "They keep saying he's a threat to democracy. I'm saying, 'What the hell did I do to democracy?' "took a bullet for democracy." Trump himself, joined by his running mate J D Vance, delivered a fiery speech at the rally at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids to a crowd of more than 12,000 supporters.
Speaking to recent events, Trump related surviving an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania campaign event, touting his fortitude while praising the Butler Memorial Hospital staff for treating him. He reacted incredulously to the accusations against Project 2025, distancing himself from any insinuation that it would be a democracy threat with "I don't want to know anything about it. But what they do is misinformation and disinformation."
Trump jumped on the rant against the Democratic Party as he accused them of colluding to rig their primaries so Pres. Joe Biden's role in this would be very minor. He attempted to frame the Republican Party, under his leadership, as a champion of all Americans. "Under our leadership, the Republican Party is now the party of the people," he said. "We're the party of hardworking Americans of every race, religion, color, and creed. We've become a very big party."
Who is going to win the presidential election come November 5 will be decided by Michigan and some other critical swing states.
