Following the closure of the polls on Saturday, major American media outlets announced that former US President Donald Trump had secured a significant victory in the South Carolina primary, triumphing over his Indian-American rival and former UN Ambassador, Nikki Haley.

This latest win marks Trump's fourth consecutive victory in the Republican presidential primaries, having previously clinched wins in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, thereby establishing a notable advantage over Haley. Notably, the victory holds particular significance for Trump given Haley's tenure as the two-term governor of South Carolina.

According to reports from major media networks, Trump's victory ensures him all 29 of the state's at-large delegates. The allocation of the remaining 21 delegates will be determined by the results in the state's Congressional districts, with three delegates slated for the winner in each of the seven districts, as per CNN.

With the requirement of 1,215 delegates to secure the party's nomination, Haley has thus far accumulated 17 delegates, while Trump has amassed 92.

In his victory speech delivered in Columbia, South Carolina, Trump jubilantly declared, "I just won the South Carolina primary," following early reports indicating his lead over Haley by nearly 30 percent.
