In his appearance on Wednesday at the AI Summit, President Donald Trump released three new executive orders focused on pioneering Artificial Intelligence, including a White House strategy comprehensive in nature to leverage AI in multiple sectors.
Trump seized the moment to lambast the historical path of the American technology industry, saying it had been spurred along by what he described as "radical globalism," an ideology he thinks has left "millions of Americans feeling 'distrustful and betrayed.'"
"Many of our biggest tech corporations have enjoyed the fruits of American freedom when they've established their factories in China, employed people in India and cut profits in Ireland, you know that. And all the while rejecting and even censoring their own fellow citizens here at home. It's going to change," he said.
Highlighting a change of direction, Trump stressed that it was necessary to bring technological advancement in line with national interests.
"Winning the AI race will require a new era of patriotism and national allegiance in Silicon Valley and far beyond Silicon Valley," Trump declared.
"We require US technology firms to be all in for America. We want you to put America first. You have to do it. That's all we ask," he further added.
Among the three orders signed by him was a directive to establish a national program to strengthen the U.S. domestic AI ecosystem. This will involve policies crafted to help stimulate the world-wide distribution of American-developed full-stack AI technologies as part of a larger strategy of export push.
