For the third consecutive day, social media platform X experienced disruptions in Pakistan on Monday, amid allegations of election rigging and admissions of vote manipulation by a senior election official.
During a press conference on Saturday, Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha made startling revelations, accusing himself of overseeing rigging to disadvantage former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Chattha disclosed that 13 seats, initially won by PTI, were instead awarded to candidates who were supposedly "losing" the elections in the garrison city.
Furthermore, Chattha implicated Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in the alleged rigging. Subsequently, he tendered his resignation, citing responsibility for the manipulation of poll results.
