In the third innings of the NDA government, Prime Minister Modi has reassured the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UK, in a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of 50th G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.

"It was a pleasure to meet PM Rishi Sunak in Italy. I reaffirmed my resolve to further deepen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the third term of the NDA Government. There is much potential to enlarge ties in areas such as semiconductors, technology and trade. We also discussed ways to cement ties on the defence front," posted PM Modi after the meeting from his X account.

The PMO also pointed out that the talks covered issues related to increasing industrial cooperation in defense, trade and business, among other issues.
Recently, Sunak had congratulated PM Modi on his electoral victory and wished him all the best for his third term over the telephone. He underscored the strong friendship between the UK and India and said he looked forward to this friendship remaining strong and growing further in the years to come.

"The UK and India enjoy the closest of friendships, and together that friendship will continue to flourish", said Sunak in a tweet on X after the 'phone call.

Earlier, while acknowledging the expanding economic might of India, Sunak had appreciated it for having achieved the status of an 'economic superpower': such rapidly expanding economies as India, Indonesia, and Nigeria, he had said, are playing a pivotal role in transforming the face of the world economy.
