China said on Wednesday that the Chinese and Indian militaries were implementing the "resolutions" regarding the disengagement in eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in an "orderly way."
"China and India recently reached resolutions on relevant issues concerning the border," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a media briefing here while replying to a question on the progress of the disengagement.
"At this time, the Chinese and Indian frontier troops are implementing the resolutions in an orderly way," he said, without providing further details. He declined to answer a question about whether there is a deadline for disengagement.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said on 21 October in New Delhi that the agreement was arrived at after negotiations over several weeks and that it will bring to an end all the issues that arose last year. A day after confirming the agreement, Lin told a media briefing on Monday that over a recent period of time, China and India have reached resolutions on issues concerning the border area following close communication through diplomatic and military channels.
China appreciated the progress made and would continue to work with India for the sound implementation of these resolutions, he said. Since the announcement ending over four years of military standoff at eastern Ladakh, China released fewer details except acknowledging that the process of disengagement is going on smoothly.
The two leaders agreed on the deal on patrolling and disengagement along the LAC in eastern Ladakh during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan in Russia on October 23.
A lengthy editorial in the state-run Global Times, a sister publication of the China's ruling Communist Party mouthpiece - the People's Daily, said the India-China agreement has drawn significant attention from the international community, with important practical implications for bringing bilateral relations back to the track of stable development at an early date.
It also, "no doubt," gave a new positive factor for the maintaining of regional and world stability, the editorial pointed out in the issue of Tuesday.
"Hoping both sides make good use of the opportunities given by this current solution, continue in implementing the reached consensus through various levels and strive toward border normalization of relations between each other to help push their normalization of relations forward.".
"Only through such cooperation can we care for the welfare of both our peoples and ensure global stability and development," the declaration said.
