Bomb Threat Forces Hyderabad-Bound Flight to Turn Back to Frankfurt

A Lufthansa aircraft traveling from Frankfurt to Hyderabad was compelled to head back to Germany on Sunday after a suspected security scare, people close to the situation said.

The aircraft, LH752, had departed Frankfurt at about 2:15 PM local time. But before crossing Indian air space, the plane turned back in response to a potential bomb threat, sources said.

Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was informed that the flight was being returned to Frankfurt after it left the western German hub.

The plane, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, safely returned to Frankfurt airport without any incident, the sources confirmed.

Flight tracking site FlightAware had initially listed LH752 as arriving at Hyderabad at 6:00 AM on Monday. No announcement has yet been made by Lufthansa about the reason for the security issue.
