Biden Stays Resolute Amid Democratic Debate Disappointment

President Joe Biden expressed confidence in his performance against former President Donald Trump during the recent debate, shrugging off calls by some disappointed Democrats that he step aside. "I think we did well," said Biden when asked by reporters how he thought he did during the debate.

He addressed what must have been the concerns of many people about his difficulties in the debate: "It's hard to Debate a Liar. The New York Times pointed out he lied 26 times." But quite belligerently, Biden brushed aside any notions of quitting and said, "No."

He confessed, though, to not being in the best health and told them that he had a sore throat.

Later, immediately after the debate, Jen O'Malley Dillon, chair of Biden's campaign, issued a statement defending the President's performance: “Tonight, President Biden presented a positive and winning vision for the future of America – one in which every American has a fair shot at the American dream, where every one of our rights are protected, and where our President fights to strengthen our democracy."
