On the other hand, Trump, aged 77, reached the necessary 1,215 delegates with the allocation from Washington state. His official nomination is slated for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this July, marking his leadership in a third consecutive presidential election.

Despite the long-awaited rematch, the enthusiasm for it seems muted, expected to closely resemble the dynamics of the 2020 campaign. However, Trump faces the added challenge this time of 91 felony charges looming over him.

Scheduled to stand trial on March 25 in New York, Trump is set to become the first former American president to face a criminal case, accused of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to a porn star.

This election marks the first presidential rematch since 1956 when Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower defeated Adlai Stevenson once again.

Biden's victory over Trump in the 2020 November elections remains contested by the Republican leader, although Biden faced only nominal opposition in securing the Democratic nomination.

Trump has vanquished several Republicans in primary elections, including former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Notably, other contenders, such as Trump's former vice president Mike Pence, withdrew from the race months ago due to insufficient voter support.
