An announcement, which came out of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh, said that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all of her Advisors, former cabinet members, and representatives of the recently dissolved National Parliament were obliged to turn their diplomatic passports in.
A notification published on Thursday read that this would also apply to their family members, news agency Xinhua reported.
The notification signed by Faisal Hasan, senior information officer of the Ministry, spells out the mechanism for obtaining general passports against the surrendered diplomatic ones.
Indeed, there is no indication of any particular legal follow-up against those who would not turn in their passports as per the directive.
