A fire erupted at a military installation in Russia's Volgograd region following an attack by Ukrainian drones, according to local officials.
Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted the assault, destroying the majority of the incoming drones, as reported by Volgograd Governor Andrei Bocharov via the regional administration's Telegram channel.
The incident took place near Marinovka village, where the drones were aimed at a Russian military facility, Xinhua news agency stated.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, the Governor confirmed.
Operations at Volgograd Airport have been impacted, though there has been no official statement about any restrictions on regional airspace.
Earlier on Wednesday, Russian forces thwarted a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempting to infiltrate the Klimovsky district in the Bryansk region, Governor Alexander Bogomaz shared on his Telegram channel.
Bogomaz confirmed that the Federal Security Service and Russian military units successfully repelled the breach, causing damage to the Ukrainian group during the confrontation.
"The situation at the scene has been stabilized and is currently under the control of the regional operational headquarters," Bogomaz noted.
In response to the ongoing Ukrainian offensive, Russia has been establishing additional troop units in border areas.
Previously, on August 6, Ukraine launched a military operation in Russia's Kursk region, claiming control over more than 1,250 square kilometers of Russian land and 92 settlements in the western Kursk area.
