US President Joe Biden has expressed his anticipation for a ceasefire to be implemented in Gaza by the upcoming Monday, March 4, following negotiations aimed at securing the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
Addressing reporters, Biden stated, "I hope by the end of the weekend... We're close. We're not done yet. My hope is by next Monday, we'll have a cease-fire." These remarks were made during a visit to an ice cream store in New York.
Meanwhile, Israeli negotiators are currently engaged in discussions in Doha concerning the release of hostages, with mediators from Egypt and Qatar facilitating the talks with Hamas representatives.
Over the weekend, the Israeli war cabinet approved terms for the release of 40 hostages in exchange for a six-week truce, potentially commencing at the beginning of Ramadan.
