Indian business magnate Mukesh Ambani was photographed welcoming former US President Donald Trump to a grand state dinner organized by Qatar in Trump's honor.
The dinner was held at Lusail Palace, where Ambani was also seen shaking hands with the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
A Washington Post story underlined that Trump and the Emir spent close to an hour in a receiving line greeting several high-profile guests, including Ambani.
Video captured Ambani smilingly shaking hands with Trump and having a quick chat before entering the palace.
He was also caught on camera exchanging a handshake and some smiles with the Emir. Ambani was later spotted chatting and laughing with US Secretary of Commerce Steve Lutnick.
This marked Ambani’s second meeting with Trump since the former president took office. Earlier this year, Ambani and his wife, Nita Ambani, attended a pre-inauguration dinner in the United States in January.
The State Dinner at Doha's Lusail Palace was reported to have been a lavish affair, with the air thick with incense and guests greeted by the sounds of drums and singing. Tesla CEO Elon Musk was a late arrival to the dinner, appearing some 30 minutes behind schedule and using a "chat and cut" approach to advance through the receiving line.
Other distinguished guests included Newsmax founder Chris Ruddy, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, and Antonio Gracias, a personal friend of Musk.
Qatar was the second stop in Trump's Middle East tour that also includes trips to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The former president began the tour in Saudi Arabia before landing in Qatar.
Quoting Press Trust of India (PTI), during the state dinner, Trump requested Qatar to use its influence on Iran to pressure Tehran's leadership into negotiating with the US to reduce its nuclear program. The request was part of wider diplomatic overtures in Trump's three-nation Middle East tour, led by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
