Real Madrid has declined to release Kylian Mbappe for the upcoming Olympic Games with Thierry Henry's team, despite an insistence from French President Emmanuel Macron on a series of appeals to Florentino Perez, the head of Los Blancos.
Henry, who used to play for Arsenal and is now the coach of France's U21 team, has revealed his 25-man preliminary squad for the Olympics, leaving out the French forward.
The team's top players include Warren Zaire-Emery, Alexandre Lacazette, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Michael Olise, and Mathys Tel.
"Real Madrid was very clear about their stance on the Olympics. The last time I faced so many refusals was during my university days. There hasn't even been any discussion or negotiation. You make your request, they say no, and you move on," Thierry Henry shared with reporters. It is anticipated that Mbappe will be signed by Real Madrid later this week and will join the team after the conclusion of the 2024 European Championship.
