During an election rally in Dabgram-Phulbari, Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed concerns over attempts to tarnish the state's reputation in the wake of the Bengaluru cafe blast case. Banerjee emphasized that the incident occurred in Bengaluru, where the accused were based, and they were in East Midnapore for only two hours. She criticized the portrayal of West Bengal as unsafe due to this incident, highlighting the prompt action taken by the Bengal Police in tracking the suspects.

Banerjee also addressed the recent events in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district, dismissing exaggerated claims of violence. She clarified that no murders occurred in Sandeshkhali and emphasized the restoration of normalcy in the area, stating that individuals associated with her party were arrested in connection with the incident.

However, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested the accused after their escape from Bengaluru. Initially hiding in Kolkata hotels, the duo later moved to Digha in East Midnapore district before their arrest. Banerjee's remarks aimed to counter the negative portrayal of West Bengal and emphasize the state's commitment to maintaining law and order.
