Brij Bhushan Singh, addressing a press conference in New Delhi, clarified that he has retired from wrestling and has cut ties with the sport.

In a tearful press conference, Sakshi took off her shoes and placed them on the dais, symbolizing her departure from the sport. She expressed her emotional state, saying, "I am dejected, and I will not be competing in wrestling anymore."

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former WFI President accused of sexual harassment by notable Indian wrestlers, remained resolute in his assertion that "dabdabad to rahega" (the upheaval will continue).

The new WFI chief addressed ongoing issues in the Indian wrestling community, particularly referring to top wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Vinesh Phogat, who were part of a protest against the former WFI chief earlier this year.

Appearing before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal of the Rouse Avenue Court, advocate Rajeev Mohan, appearing for Singh, argued that as per the law, the Oversight Committee had to recommend for the registration of the FIR within seven days, but since in the matter at hand, no such recommendation has been made, it is safe to assume that the Committee did not find a prima facie case against accused.

The two-time U20 world champion was at her absolute best as she secured a 16-6 win via technical superiority (TSU) to pocket her maiden senior World Championships medal.

The police made the submission before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal of Rouse Avenue Court.  “Singh was not exonerated by the oversight committee. The committee had given recommendations, and not a decision. Nowhere has it been stated that these allegations are not substantiated or are false,” special public prosecutor Atul Srivastava told the court.

Former World Cadet champion Priya improved on the silver medal she won in the 2022 U20 World Championships, winning the gold medal in the women's 76kg category, becoming only the second Indian women wrestler to win gold at the Junior World championships.

With Vinesh's departure, the path is now open for Antim Panghal to join the squad. The U-20 world champion, who had emerged victorious in the selection trials and was named as a reserve player, will now represent India in the women's 53kg category.

The petition challenged the move to allow the Haryana Amateur Wrestling Association to cast votes in the WFI polls.
