Partha Chatterjee not allowed to participate at Puja in jail

Unlike most inmates, he will have to spend the majority of the time in his cell during the four days of Puja from October 1 to October 5. However, he will not be denied the sumptuous delicacies, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, that the correctional home authorities are arranging for the inmates for the four days of the festival.

Partha Chatterjee's counsel made a desperate attempt to get his bail plea granted on grounds of his physical ailments and family prestige. However, the ED counsel strongly objected to his bail prayer on grounds that the investigation process by the central agency is still only on and more information relating to the crime proceeds is being unearthed every day. In such a situation, the investigation process might get hampered, he contended.
WBSSC scam: Partha Chatterjee, three others get judicial custody till Oct 5

The court ordered similar judicial custody till October 5 for three others arrested in this connection namely former president of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) Kalyanmoy Gangopadhyay, former WBSSC secretary, Ashok Saha and former convener of WBSSC's screening committee, SP Sinha.
Partha Chatterjee forced Arpita Mukherjee to be director in shell companies: ED charge sheet

Mukherjee confessed to the probe agency that one of the accountants following Chatterjee's instructions had been putting pressure on her to become a director in these companies, ED sources said citing the charge sheet. The other director in the three companies is Kalyan Dhar, who is married to Mukherjee's sister.
ED chargesheet says Arpita named Partha as owner of cash seized from her houses

"Arpita Mukherjee then said that the seized cash amounting to Rs 49.80 crore and gold/jewellery valued at more than Rs 5 crore from her two residences belonged to Partha Chatterjee. She also filed an application for treating her disclosure as a plea for taking a lenient view under the provisions of law," said the source, citing the ED chargesheet.
Bengal assembly passes motion against central agency activities in state

Participating in a discussion in the matter, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while launching a scathing attack against the Leader of the opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi might not be aware of the "excesses" on part of the central agencies in the state. The Chief Minister became furious after in the midst of her speech a comment was passed claiming that all in Trinamool Congress are thieves.
WBSSC Scam: CBI approaches court demanding Partha Chatterjee's custody

The CBI on Thursday made an appeal to a special court of the agency in Kolkata seeking permission to take Chatterjee into custody. The matter will be heard on Friday and former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee will have to be physically present in the court during the hearing.

The WBSSC Scam matter will be heard next on September 28. Although the hearing on Wednesday was concluded by 5.30 pm, the judge of the special court reserved the judgement. Finally, at around 8 pm, he gave the order directing additional 14 days of judicial custody for the accused.

Both, Arpita Mukherjee and Partha Chatterjee who are currently in judicial custody over their alleged involvement in the West Bengal School Service Commission (BSSC) recruitment scam, appeared for hearing in virtual mode at a special ED court on Wednesday afternoon, where the central agency's counsel informed the court about the new revelations.
