Rohit Sharma, the captain of the team, proved his mettle at the top of the order, setting the stage with his explosive innings.

In a stellar performance, Kohli scored 117 off 113 deliveries, contributing significantly to India's total of 397/4 in the first semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Kohli, who had equaled Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 centuries just ten days prior, reached his unprecedented 50th hundred with the Little Master himself watching and applauding from the stands.

This record-breaking century marked Kohli surpassing the previous record of 49 centuries, which he jointly held with cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli achieved this remarkable feat in 279 innings. 

Despite falling short by just 4 runs of the 600-run milestone, Kohli reached the feat during his 51-run performance, concluding the league stage with an impressive total of 594 runs, surpassing Quinton de Kock's 591 runs.

Having scored his 49th century after a big gap and equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record for most hundreds in One-day International cricket, Virat Kohli will be keen to score his 50th century and make the record his own.

He discussed strategic refinements aimed at enhancing not only his individual performance but also contributing to the team's chances of victory. 

On his birthday, Kohli gifted himself and his fans a splendid century, notching up an unbeaten 101 runs off 121 deliveries. This remarkable feat allowed him to equal the record set by his cricketing hero, Sachin Tendulkar.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared an inspiring video on Instagram, featuring prominent Indian cricketers like Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and head coach Rahul Dravid. 

Kohli has been phenomenal with his performance in the ongoing ODI World Cup with 354 runs in six matches comprising a century (48th) against Bangladesh in Pune.
