Azam Khan disqualified as member of UP Assembly

The Speaker announced the decision after receiving the orders of the court which had convicted Azam Khan in a hate speech case and awarded his three years' imprisonment on Thuirsday. The Representation of the People Act says that anyone sentenced to imprisonment of two years or more shall be disqualified "from the date of such conviction" and remain disqualified for another six years after serving time.

Stating that the law doesn't provide for electoral roll based on caste or religion, the poll panel noted that the Representation of People Act, 1950 and the Representation of People Act, 1951 envisage various provisions aimed at ensuring purity of electoral registration, revision and final roll and provisions for penalties and criminal liabilities for undue interference, including false declaration knowingly and promoting enmity between classes.

Abbas Ansari, son of mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, reached the court with an advocate by dodging the police team. He surrendered in the court of MP / MLA in the hate-speech case. The police had been looking for him but had failed to arrest him. On Wednesday, Abbas Ansari got interim relief from the Supreme Court in the Arms Act case.

Uttarakhand MPs face least anti-incumbency

In Uttarakhand, only 5 per cent respondents are angry with their MPs. West Bengal and Kerala MPs are also sitting pretty with only 5.1 and 5.5 per cent respondents expressing anger against their MPs. Haryana and Himachal Pradesh MPs are also comfortably placed with only 5.7 and 6.2 per cent respondents expressing anger respectively.

A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and B.V. Nagarathna said it will hear the matter on November 7. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Mishra, submitted that notice was already issued in the matter. On July 26, the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench declined to entertain Mishra's bail plea.
Shiv Sena threatens to 'cut off tongue' of AIMIM leader

Shiv Sena state president Anil Singh said in a statement that Shaukat Ali had crossed all limits while making the comments and Hindus would not tolerate it. "It is because of people like him that even nationalist Muslims are viewed with suspicion," he said. Singh termed the AIMIM leader as a "PFI agent" and said that if he did not mind his language, his tongue would be cut off.

Mulayam to be cremated in Sefai on Tuesday

The mortal remains of the late Samajwadi patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav will be taken to his native village Sefai in Etawah later on Monday. In a tweet, the Samajwadi Party informed that the cremation of the late leader will be held in his village on Tuesday at 3.p.m. A party source said that it has been decided not to bring the mortal remains to Lucknow in view of torrential rains in the state capital.
Yogi announces three-day state mourning on Mulayam's death

The last rites of the departed leader will be held with full state honours. Yogi Adityanath also spoke to Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and SP MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav on phone. He said in a statement that the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav marks the end of an era of leaders who believed in struggle and socialist ideology.
