Amid Covid surge, face masks mandatory in Gurugram

Gurugram Deputy Commissioner, Nishant Kumar Yadav in his order said, "It is mandatory to wear face masks in public places, malls, government/private offices where more than 100 people gather in the district to prevent the spread of Covid infection, as per the instructions of Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department."
India: Covid fresh cases cross 5k-mark

The new addition has pushed the total number of active cases to 25,587. According to the data, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.32 per cent and weekly positivity rate at 2.89 per cent. The Health Ministry said that till now 220.66 crore Total Vaccine doses (95.21 cr Second Dose and 22.87 cr Precaution Dose) have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive. 1,993 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
At 4,435, India sees highest one-day rise in Covid cases since September 2022

The number of active cases stands at 23,091, the data showed. With the surge in the past 24 hours, the tally has climbed to 4,47,33,719. Also, 15 deaths reported during the same time span has pushed the toll to 5,30,916. As per the ministry data, the national Covid recovery rate was pegged at 98.76 per cent.

India on Monday reported 3,641 infections, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. On Saturday, it reported 3,824 new Covid-19 infections -- the biggest single-day rise in about 184 days.Last week, the country had seen a surge with 18,450 fresh cases, a substantial rise from the previous week's 8,781 cases.The Omicron variant XBB.1.16 is believed to be behind the sudden surge of the cases.

There were 1,396 recoveries in the last 24 hours and active caseload stood at 13,509. The Delhi government has called an emergency meeting after the Covid cases spiked on Wednesday. A total of 300 new Covid infections in the last 24 hours were recorded in the national capital, which is a rise over Tuesday's 214 cases, as per the Delhi government health bulletin.
Centre reviews preparedness against Covid, advises states to undertake mock drills in April

Bhushan advised tge states to undertake mock drills across all health facilities on April 10 and 11 to ensure operational readiness of hospital infrastructure, including oxygen cylinders, PSA plants, ventilators, logistics and human resources.

Delhi Police remove barricades outside British High Commission after hooliganism outside Indian High Commission in London

“The security arrangements outside the British High Commission here are intact. However, barricades placed on the pathway towards the commission that created hurdles for commuters have been removed,” the police officer told PTI. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the British High Commission declined to comment on the matter, citing security concerns.
