UGC NET December 2022: NTA fixes upper age limit | All you need to know

According to the NTA, they have been receiving a few representations from the applicants for fixing the last date to calculate the age limit to apply for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The Official notice says that “The National Eligibility Test (NET) Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) (vide Letter No.4- 1/2019 (NET/NTA) dated 02 January 2023) has requested the NTA to fix the upper age limit for applying for JRF as 01.12.2022 instead of 01.02.2023”. 

The National Test Agency (NTA) has issued an important notice in the context of upper age limit for University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) December 2022. The official notice has been on the official website of NTA – nta.ac.in.

As per the official letter the Agency has decided the last date to determine the upper age limit for applying JRF is 1st of December, 2022 for December 2022 UGC NET Examination, So the interested Applicants shouldn’t be more than 30-year-old as on December 1, 2022. The relaxation upto 5 year has been provided to those applicants who belongs to OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes – Non Creamy Layer) (according to the central list of OBC available on the website) / Scheduled Castes (SC)/ Scheduled Tribes (ST)/ Public Works Department (PwD)/ third gender Categories and to the women applicants. 

The Age relaxation is also being provided to the applicants having Research experience, limited to the period spent on the research in the relevant/ related subject of postgraduation degree, subject should be of maximum 5 year, on production of a certificate from proper authority which should be a recognized Indian University/ Institute of National Importance/ Foreign University which is duly approved, recognized and Accredited in its own country/ Public Sector Undertaking of the Government of India/ State Government in India.
