While Senator Jon Ossoff expressed joy over the courage of Tibetans in exile, he informed the Tibetan Parliamentarians of his audience with the Dalai Lama at the latter's residence in Mcleodganj, besides explaining the objective of the delegation's visit.

Representative Gyaltsen addressed Pelosi on the deteriorating human rights situation in Tibet and the increasingly extreme policy of ethnic, religious and cultural genocide in Tibet by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said the CTA.

International Justice Day celebrates the importance of ensuring accountability concerning some of the most heinous crimes such as genocide, murder, forced detention, unjustified jail imprisonment.

The Tibetans observed a minute of silence for Japan's former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe--a friend of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a strong supporter of the Tibetan cause. They prayed for world peace and wished the Dalai Lama a long and healthy life. Sonam Frasi, from the Office of Tibet, London, urged the new generation of Tibetans to be fully aware of what Sinicisation means and how it is being implemented in Tibet. He said: "Sinicisation is a three-pronged attempt by China to convert Tibetans into Chinese".

Jigme Gyatso, a monk at the Labrang Monastery also called Jigme Goril, died Saturday at home in the Kanlho Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, a former student said. "During his imprisonment, he has been subjected to severe beatings due to which he has been admitted in hospital for a long time without any sign of improvement," the former student now living in exile told RFA Tibetan. No cause of death has been given, but sources said he had been in poor health since his release from prison in 2016.

Calling the 2022 Winter Olympics "Genocide Games", the protesters marched from the IOC headquarter street to the Olympic Museum based in Switzerland on Thursday. Tibet supporters and representatives from the Uyghur community also joined the protest. The protest started by handing over a joint letter to the IOC, in which the Tibetan communities in Europe expressed profound disappointment over IOC's failure in carrying out human rights.

As this year's Winter Olympics begins in Beijing on Friday, the international community must not let that happen again. During and after these historic Games, countries around the globe must take action to confront the Chinese government's oppression of Tibetans, Uyghurs, Mongolians, Hong Kongers and other targeted groups, ICT said in a statement to IANS.

The Indian-American currently serves as Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human rights -- a position that has traditionally doubled as the special coordinator. The Tibetan Policy Act of 2002 mandates the appointment of the special coordinator. According to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, "I have designated Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya to serve concurrently as the United States Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, an important role she will take on effective immediately.

Beijing is already moving ahead with its plan to build the biggest dam - a 60-gigawatt mega-dam - on the Brahmaputra river known as Yarlung Zangbao in Tibet. Though China's foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying has said that Beijing will keep the communication channel open with the two countries, there is opacity in information sharing.
