T20 World Cup 2022

Fans from 82 different countries have purchased tickets to watch the world's best players from 16 international teams, marking the return of full stadiums at ICC events for the first time since the Women's T20 World Cup in 2020, which culminated with 86,174 fans for the final at the MCG, the ICC informed.

The 30-year-old Lewis has been recalled for the first time since the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. Apart from the veteran, he squad also has two uncapped players in - right-arm leg-spinner allrounder Yannic Cariah and left-arm batting allrounder Raymon Reifer.

Australia are set to tour India for a three-match T20I series beginning in Mohali on September 20, followed by games in Nagpur (Sept 23) and Hyderabad (Sept 25). The games are crucial for both teams as it will provide ideal preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup Down Under in October-November.

Sanju Samson, who hails from the coastal village near the international airport, is presently the skipper of Rajasthan Royals and had a good tour of the West Indies recently. Hopes were high that he would make it to the T20 World Cup squad, but failed to impress the selectors.

Dinesh Karthik, who made another India comeback with his stellar run in the IPL 2022, has been playing the role of a finisher for RCB and the national team. Given his impressive strike rate and finishing prowess, the All-India Senior Selection Committee picked the veteran cricketer in India's 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

After taking a break of a month and a half from the game, Virat Kohli roared back to form in Asia Cup 2022 as second-highest run-getter, with 276 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 147.59, including 122 against Afghanistan and a brace of fifties against Hong Kong and Pakistan respectively.

Apart from Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Nurul Hasan, Yasir Ali and Hasan Mahmud are included in the Bangladesh Men's T20 World Cup squad. The four come in the squad in place of Anamul Haque, Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Naim and Parvez Hossain Emon.

The tournament was to be held in 2020, however, due to Covid Pandemic, the International Cricket Council (ICC) postponed the tournament. In August 2020, the ICC confirmed that Australia would host the rearranged tournament in 2022, with the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India in 2021 as originally planned, but was later moved to UAE. Hosts Australia is also the defending champions.

While England have opted for a predominantly red kit, Aboriginal artwork will flow on the Australian jerseys, which have black sleeves and a green and gold gradient on the trunk of the playing top, as they seek to defend the T20 World Cup on home soil a year after lifting the trophy in the United Arab Emirates defeating trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand.
