India showcased its military might during the parade by armed forces at Rajpath at the Republic Day parade as the Indian Airforce concluded the event with its last showcase. Recently inducted Rafale fighter jets culminated the ceremony by flying at a speed of 900km/hr carrying out a ‘Vertical Charlie’.

The President said in his speech: "These values - justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity - outlined in the preamble of our Constitution are sacred to all of us. Its abiding adherence is meant not only for those who are mandated to govern but for the people at large.

Lamenting that the federal structure on which India's polity is founded is facing one of its biggest threats under the present Indian regime, the Chief Minister said the brazen manner in which the three farm laws were pushed through, without debate or discussion, cannot, and should not be accepted in the world's largest democracy.

The Samajwadi Party had shared a news report on Twitter that said farmers are being kept under house arrest by the UP Police in order to restrain them from participating in the January 26 tractor rally. Volunteers in the scheme have been made the 'eyes and ears' of the south west district police. "The 50 volunteers, who are mostly shopkeepers and workers at Sarojini Nagar Market, have agreed to help the police to keep an eye on any suspicious activity. A high alert has been declared in the city after reports of terrorists planning attacks," said a senior Police officer.

The farm agitation entered the 58th day on Friday as the farmers rejected the Centre's proposal of suspension of the agri legislation for the time being following the 10th round of talks on Wednesday. Farmers have been demanding a complete roll back.
