With 75 aircraft, flypast at Republic day 2022 to be ‘grandest and largest’: IAF

The fly-past will involve participation from one Dakota in the vintage Tangail formation and two Dornier flying in a Vic formation, said IAF PRO Wing Commander Indranil Nandi at a press briefing.  This will be a tribute to the Tangail airdrop operation-single largest airdrop involving Indian Paratroopers which led to the surrender of 93000 strong Pakistan Army- undertaken during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.  
'Wrong precedent': Centre on row over R-Day tableaux

The Centre claimed that this goes a long way in harming the country's federal structure. "We have recently seen letters being written by chief ministers of some states about the exclusion of their state's tableaux in the Republic Day Parade. This is unmistakably linked to regional pride and projected as an insult to the people of the state by the Central Government. This script also plays out almost every year. Perhaps the Chief Ministers have no positive agenda of their own when they have to resort to the same old trick using misinformation year after year," government sources said.

His videos went viral on social media where he was purportedly heard threatening cops on duty and inciting protesters to go on a rampage.
Republic Day Violence: Deep Sidhu sent to 7-day police custody

Sidhu was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Prigya Gupta at Tis Hazari court. Police had sought 10 days' custody of the accused, which was opposed by Sidhu's lawyers. The police sought his remand on the grounds that locations in Mumbai, Punjab and Haryana need to be visited, in-depth scrutiny of his mobile phone has to be conducted and other conspirators have to be arrested.

Many protesters reached the Red Fort and even hoisted religious flags on its domes."Substantial steps have been taken, 43 FIRs filed in relation with January 26 violence of which 13 transferred to Delhi Police Special Cell," Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta submitted.

The arrested person has been identified as Dharmendra Singh Harman who was seen in a video footage at Red fort on January 26 when the violence broke out.The police are also ascertaining his role in the hoisting of a religious flag at the Red fort.
