In a memorandum submitted to Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, a Congress delegation led by spokespersons Sachin Sawant and Raju Waghmare said that the leakage of the purported social media chats conducted between Republic TV chief Arnab Goswami and ex-BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta undermined national security of the 'highest order'.

The observation from the top court came after Attorney General K.K. Venugopal said the Centre is seeking restraint orders against the farmers from entering Delhi as the court has taken charge of the matter. The Centre through Delhi Police has moved the top court seeking direction to restrain farmer unions from conducting the tractor rally as a method to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations.

It will be for the first time in over five decades that India will not have a chief guest at the Republic Day parade.

This would be the first occasion in the last five decades when India will not have a foreign dignitary as the chief guest. Multiple reasons were kept in mind while making the decision. UK PM Boris Johnson had accepted India's invitation publicly but later on expressed his inability to attend the event in wake of  pandemic situations in the UK.
