With this rise, petrol prices have reached very close to hitting the century-mark all across the country extending the scope of historic high prices that had already made the fuel rate cross the Rs 100 per litre mark in certain cities and towns of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. On Wednesday, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) raised the price of petrol and diesel between 12-25 per litre across the four metros.

Accordingly, the price of petrol continues to remain at Rs 96.41 per litre and diesel at Rs 87.28 per litre in Delhi. OMCs had raised the price of the two petroleum products on Monday to take retail levels at new highs across the country. In Mumbai, where petrol prices crossed Rs 100 mark for the first time ever on May 29, the fuel price reached new high of Rs 102.58 per litre on Monday.
Double century in Sri Ganganagar: Petrol-diesel above Rs 100/l mark

The city already had the distinction of having the highest pump price of petrol across the country at Rs 107.23 a litre. With diesel prices now increasing there by another 25 paisa per litre on Saturday it reached Rs 100.06 a litre.

In the city of Mumbai, where petrol prices crossed Rs 100 mark for the first time ever on May 29, the fuel price reached new high of Rs 102.04 per litre on Friday. Diesel prices also increased in the city to reach Rs 94.15 a litre, the highest among metros.

Mumbai is not the only city to have the unique distinction of petrol breaching the Rs 100 per litre mark. Thane reached the mark a few days back while few other cities in Rajasthan (including Jaipur) Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, having the highest VAT levels on auto fuels in the country, have already been selling normal petrol for over Rs 100 a litre for the past several days.
Petrol prices cross Rs 95/litre in Delhi, Rs 101/litre in Mumbai

In Delhi, the fuel was sold for Rs 95.03 a litre, up from Rs 94.76 on Saturday. The price of petrol in Mumbai crossed the Rs 101-a-litre mark at Rs 101.25 per litre. In Chennai and Kolkata, the fuel was sold for Rs 96.47, Rs 95.02, respectively, higher than the levels on Saturday. Similarly, diesel prices also rose across the four cities.
Petrol, diesel price rise goes for a pause again

Accordingly, the pump prices of petrol and diesel remain at Rs 94.76 and Rs 85.66 per litre respectively in Delhi on Saturday. In the city of Mumbai, where petrol prices crossed the Rs 100 mark for the first time ever last Saturday, the fuel price remains at new high of Rs 100.98 per litre. Diesel price also continues to be at Rs 92.99 a litre, the highest among metros.
