However, Djokovic will play his 46th major semifinal, equalling Roger Federer's men's singles record.

Following Tuesday’s quarterfinal victory against Andrey Rublev, the Serbian delivered a punchline, "It ain’t happening!" in his on-court interview, when asked about his fellow competitors' aim to stop his run at the season's third major. The World No. 2, who will next compete in his 46th major semifinal on Friday against Italian Jannik Sinner, doubled down on his statement in his post-match press conference.

The defending champion sailed into the quarter-finals at Wimbledon for the 14th time after a curfew-delayed four-set win against Hubert Hurkacz. The Serbian takes on Andrey Rublev in Tuesday's quarterfinals. The 36-year-old was leading Poland's Hurkacz by two sets when play was suspended on Sunday night.

In another match, American Christopher Eubanks stunned fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in a five-set thriller in the fourth round, storming into the quarterfinals with a superb win. Eubanks came back from a set deficit twice as he won the match 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in just over three hours at the No.2 Court.

Djokovic seeks to equal Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles this fortnight in London, where he can displace Carlos Alcaraz as No. 1 in the ATP Rankings by lifting the trophy. The 36-year-old Serb has been the undisputed ruler of SW19 since 2018, and with a victory over Pedro Cachin of Argentina in their first-round meeting on Monday, he extended his impressive record over the last five Wimbledon.

Djokovic overcame a strong start from Ruud on Court-Philippe Chatrier to seal his historic victory. Djokovic came back from 1-4 in the first set to force a tie-break and then won the next two sets to prevail over his Norwegian opponent 7-6(1), 6-3, 7-5

The 36-year-old Serbian came out firing in the generational battle on Court Philippe-Chatrier, pulling the 20-year-old Spaniard around with destructive and consistent groundstrokes to win the first set. Alcaraz and Djokovic went blow to blow, with both demonstrating exceptional agility and movement in a high-quality and engrossing opening first two sets.

In a well-contested quarterfinal, the third seed Djokovic braved an early barrage from Khachanov before sealing an ultimately comfortable 4-6, 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-victory at the clay-court major. Djokovic did not earn a breakpoint in the opening two sets but raised his level spectacularly from the second-set tie-break onwards on Court Philippe-Chatrier to seal a three-hour, 38-minute win.

Two-time French Open champion Djokovic, who also has a chance of becoming the first man in the history of Open Era tennis to achieve the triple career Grand Slam, dispatched Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(1) in the first round on Court Philippe Chatrier at the Roland Garros here.
