Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 in straight sets to capture his fourth US Open title and scripted history on Sunday night, becoming the first person in the Open Era to win 24 Grand Slam titles, tying Margaret Court for the most in history.

The battle between the second and the third seed saw Djokovic cruise past Medvedev 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3. With the victory, the 36-year-old Serbian became the oldest US Open men's singles champion in the Open Era, reports Xinhua.

Competing in the 34-degree heat on Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night, the 36-year-old was in no mood to relinquish his streak against Fritz, triumphing 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to improve to 8-0 in the pair's ATP Head-to-Head series.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic needed to come back from a two-sets-to-love deficit and grind out a 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 win over Djere to advance to fourth round, reports ‘usopen’. “It’s one of the toughest matches I’ve played here in many years,” Djokovic said. “Huge, huge credit to Laslo, who played some of the best tennis I’ve ever seen him play.” 

The 36-year-old rallied from a set and a break down against the World No. 1 and saved a championship point at 5/6 in the second-set tie-break to earn a record-extending 39th ATP Masters 1000 title.

"I've always enjoyed my stays in Canada, but after talking with my team, we think it's the right decision to make. I would like to thank Karl Hale, Tournament Director, for understanding this decision. I really hope to have other opportunities to play in Canada, and in Toronto, in front of great spectators," Djokovic was quoted by the tournament website.

Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning US Open champion after winning the title last year, came up with an inspired performance to overcome Novak Djokovic for a 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory that would now extend his stay at the top of the World Rankings. “It’s a dream come true for me,” said Alcaraz.

Competing under the roof on Centre Court, 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz showcased his deft touch and devastating power to become the third Spanish man to reach the title match at SW19, joining 1966 champion Manuel Santana and two-time titlist Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic delivered a typically classy all-around semi-final performance to prevail 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) against the Italian and notch his 34th straight match win at the grass-court major.
