Italian Open: Djokovic moves to third round with win over Karatsev
The top seed must reach the semi-finals to prevent Daniil Medvedev from taking his spot at the top of the ATP Rankings on Monday, and the Serbian's all-round performance against Karatsev represented an impressive start to that mission. Djokovic's return game was at its relentless best as he broke the World No 35 serve four times on his way to a comfortable win on centre court.
Alcaraz deserved to win, says Djokovic after losing to 19-year-old Spaniard
The 34-year-old Serbian was aiming to reach a record-extending 55th ATP Masters 1000 final, but was unable to overcome the 19-year-old Alcaraz, who will try and win his second Masters 1000 crown on Sunday against the world No. 3 Zverev. Alcaraz won the three-setter 6-7(5), 7-5, 7-6(5).

In a hard-fought summit clash, Rublev dug deep against Djokovic as he hit with relentless power and intensity to outlast the home favourite 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-0 at the ATP 250 clay-court event. The 24-year-old saved five set points in the second set to force a tie-break and while he was unable to prevent Djokovic from levelling the match, Rublev regrouped in the decider as he looked the fitter of the two to triumph after two hours and 29 minutes.

For the second straight day at the Serbia Open, Djokovic won a comeback three-setter against an in-form countryman. The top seed battled back from a set and a break down on Thursday against Miomir Kecmanovic to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Djokovic extended his win streak against Serbians to 10 matches, improving his record to 27-4 against his countrymen and 36-6 in his home nation.
Monte-Carlo Masters: Zverev, Rublev reach third round in Monaco
After the shocking exit of top seed Novak Djokovic one day before, Zverev, seeking his sixth ATP Masters 1000 title, remained the highest-ranked player in the tournament. A victory at Monte-Carlo would see the 24-year-old move closer to the top spot of the ATP rankings.
Monte Carlo Masters: Djokovic crashes out, Fritz survives scare in Monaco
The 22-year-old Spanish player Davidovich Fokina defeated the Serb 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1 in the second-round match in two hours 54 minutes. Struggling to impose his strokes in windy conditions, Djokovic, the top seed, sprayed too many mistakes and hit the exit door in only his second ATP tournament of the season while the Spaniard defended seven out of 11 break chances and delivered nine breaks from 20 opportunities to control the scoreboard in sets one and three.
World No. 1 Djokovic gets tricky draw as he aims for third Monte Carlo title

Eighth seed Alcaraz is making his debut at the clay-court event and will begin against Sebastian Korda (US) or Botic van de Zandschulp (Netherlands). Alcaraz is 18-2 this season, having also triumphed on clay in Rio de Janeiro.

Fritz became the first American man to lift the trophy in Indian Wells since Andre Agassi in 2001. It is the second time he has triumphed after a tour-level event.

Djokovic was not allowed to play at the Australian Open due to his vaccination status. The Serb was also banned from entering the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open this month due to the United States' Covid guidelines. Now, the organisers said that the 34-year-old could be denied entry into the Canadian Open -- which runs from August 8 to 14 -- if rules are not changed.
