At close, Nifty was up 1.01 per cent or 190 points at 19,047.25, while the Sensex closed at 63,782.80, up 635 points or 1.01 per cent. 

The index appeared somewhat oversold, leading to a pullback on Friday. However, the sentiment remains predominantly bearish, and any upward movements may still face selling pressure, he said.

While Nifty closed 281 points down at 18,841, Sensex fell 900 pts to close 63,148.

While Nifty tanked 257 points to a four-month low, Sensex plunged 900 points to settle at 63,148 levels, he said.

Sensex is down by 832 points at 63,216 points in morning trade amid massive selling the markets.

The Nifty Mid-cap index, on the other hand, has shown a relatively stronger seasonality, closing in the green on eight occasions with an average return of 2.1 per cent, the report said.

At close, Nifty was down 0.83 per cent or 159.6 points at 19,122.2, while the Sensex tanked 522.82 points or 0.81 per cent to settle at 64,049.06.

The sell-off was even more brutal within the small and mid-cap space as retail investors finally seem like throwing in the towel on back of lackluster earnings and no clear positive commentary from management, he said.

Nifty nosedived 261 points (-1 per cent) to close at a three-month low of 19,281.75, said Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Retail Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services.

Metal stocks lead the losses with JSW Steel and Tata Steel down more than 2 per cent.
