Army opening hospitals for people wherever possible, force chief tells PM

After visiting the forward locations in Siachen and eastern Ladakh on Wednesday, Naravane met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to brief him on the various initiatives taken by the Army to help in Covid management. The Army chief informed the Prime Minister that medical staff of the force are being made available to various state governments. He also told Modi that the Army is setting up temporary hospitals in various parts of the country.

The Modi government has approved emergency use of Russian vaccine Sputnik-V in India. The Russian vaccine will be manufactured in India for use in India, Russia and other countries. An official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that Prime Minister Modi spoke over phone with President Putin on Wednesday. The two leaders discussed the evolving Covid-19 situation.
PM nod to procuring 1 lakh portable oxygen concentrators from PM Cares Fund

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, to discuss the measures needed to improve liquid medical oxygen (LMO) supply for Covid management. He instructed that these oxygen concentrators should be procured at the earliest and provided in states with a high case burden.

Major quake hits Assam, Arunachal: PM assures all help

At least seven aftershocks were recorded in the hours after the first quake shook up Sonitpur bordering Arunachal Pradesh in northern Assam at 7.51 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) the tremors were felt even in North Bengal and other parts of the northeastern states including Arunachal Pradesh.
Acquire tankers too to ensure oxygen supply, Gehlot to PM

Without tankers, oxygen cannot be sent to states, Gehlot stressed. "You should allot tankers too the way you are allowing oxygen. This will help redress the grievances of states, no matter if it is Delhi or Rajasthan or any other state," he told Modi.

The Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat briefed Modi that all medical personnel from armed forces who have retired or taken pre-mature retirement in the last two years are being recalled to work in Covid facilities in the proximity of their present place of residence.
551 Oxygen plants to be setup through PM CARES

In a statement, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) said, "the Prime Minister has directed that these plants should be made functional as soon as possible. The Prime Minister said that these plants will serve as a major boost to oxygen availability at the district level."
