The Prime Minister was speaking at the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts, which was also attended by Chief Justice N. V. Ramana, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Law and Justice S.P. Singh Baghel and Supreme Court judges. The Prime Minister insisted that judicial reform is not merely a policy matter and human sensitivities are involved and they should be kept in the centre of all the deliberations.

PM Modi will also address the gathering on the occasion at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Joint Conference is an occasion for the executive and the judiciary to come together to create frameworks for simple and convenient delivery of justice, and to discuss steps required for overcoming the challenges facing the justice system.

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of various projects in Assam. He laid foundation stones for projects worth more than Rs 500 crore, related to education and healthcare including, Veterinary College (Diphu), Degree College (West Karbi Anglong) and Agricultural College (Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong). These projects will bring new opportunities for skilling and employment in the region. The PM also laid the foundation stone for more than 2950 Amrit Sarovar projects.

Addressing a big rally in Assam's Dibrugarh, Modi said that 16 new AIIMS and one medical college in each district of the country will be set up to provide the best medical treatment to the people. "Policy has been changed so that students can be taught in the medical colleges in their local languages and mother tongue," Modi said after inaugurating the Dibrugarh Cancer Centre at the Assam Medical College and Hospital.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Loringthepi in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, the Prime Minister said that with the declining of the violent activities by 75 per cent over the years, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA) was being withdrawn from large parts of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.

The Assam government declared a local holiday on Thursday within the jurisdiction of Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong districts in view of Prime Minister's visit. According to the officials, Modi is scheduled to reach Dimapur (Nagaland) airport and from there, he will go to Diphu in Assam's Karbi Anglong district by helicopter to address a rally -- 'unity, peace and development rally' at Loringthepi and lay the foundation of some development projects worth over Rs 500 crore.

Ahead of the year-end Gujarat assembly polls, the Prime Minister's address to the Patidar Business Summit is seen as an effort to reach out to the community which is politically important in the state. The BJP, however, claimed that it has nothing to do with politics. "Patidars are politically important in Gujarat, but the Prime Minister's address to their business summit has nothing to do with politics. They have invited the Prime Minister and he accepted their invitation. There is no politics," a Gujarat BJP leader said.

In the letter, the signatories said the country is witnessing a frenzy of hate-filled destructions where at the sacrificial altar are not just Muslims and members of the other minority communities, but the Constitution itself.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will address the 'Peace, Unity and Development Rally', lay foundation stone of several initiatives in education sector and Amrit Sarovar projects in state, and also dedicate to the nation seven cancer hospitals. Prime Minister Modi will also address the 'Peace, Unity and Development Rally' at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said: "Thank you Guwahati! The people of this lovely city have given a resounding mandate to @BJP4Assam to build on the agenda of development. They have also blessed the hardwork of the state government under CM @himantabiswa. My gratitude to every BJP Karyakarta for the hardwork."
