Meta sees strong trend in women entrepreneurs using its apps in India
About 73 per cent of Instagram business accounts that self-identify as a women-owned business were set up in the last three years in India, the company revealed. In addition, 53 per cent of all business pages on Facebook with female admins were also set up in the last three years in the country. "It's heartening to see more women kickstart their entrepreneurial journeys with the help of digital technologies, and we're humbled that we play a part in this journey," Archana Vohra, Director, Small and Medium Business for Meta in India, said in a statement.
WhatsApp may let users 'mute calls' from unknown numbers
This feature will also include several advantages, such as reducing interruptions and potentially avoiding spam calls. Users will find the toggle located in the app settings, and once enabled, calls from unknown numbers will get silenced, but they will still be shown in the calls list and notification centre, said the report.

WhatsApp rolling out 'Split view' feature on Android beta for tablets
Usually, the chat view takes up the entire screen when users open a chat on the tablet version of the application, reports WABetaInfo. And then users have to go back to the chat list again if they want to open a different conversation. With the new feature, the chat list will always be visible when opening a chat. The split view will help users to manage and organise chats.
Meta expanding Instagram's age verification test to 6 more countries
"Starting today, we're beginning to expand our age verification test on Instagram to more countries in Europe, Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Australia and Japan," the company said in an updated blogpost on Thursday. It further mentioned that it is planning to make the age verification tools available in more countries globally within the next few months.

WhatsApp bans 29 lakh accounts in India as country launches grievance panel
Between January 1 and January 31, "2,918,000 WhatsApp accounts were banned. 1,038,000 of these accounts were proactively banned, before any reports from users," the company said in its monthly compliance report. The most popular messaging platform, which has nearly 500 million users in the country, received 1,461 complaint reports in January in the country, and the records "actioned" were 195.
WhatsApp may soon add newsletters to Status tab on Android beta
The company is working on changing the Status tab by adding two different sections-- status and newsletter, reports WABetaInfo. The important aspects of this newly designed section will be the incorporation of users' subscribed newsletters directly into the status tab, as well as the capability to search for newsletters by username. Moreover, status updates will be displayed in a horizontal layout similar to Instagram Stories.
