Russian troops take control of Kherson region
A top official from Russia's Defence Ministry has claimed that troops have taken control of the entire region of Kherson, after the territory's namesake capital city was first captured on March 3. Confirming the takeover, Major General Igor Konashenkov, the Ministry's official representative, said that troops from 'Donetsk People's Republic' also broke through Ukrainian defences and took control of the settlement of Panteleymonovka, RT News reported.
China conveys willingness to provide military, financial aid to Russia

Russian shelling hits high-rise building in Kiev
Russian shelling hit a 10-storey apartment building in Kiev on Tuesday, leaving one person injured, Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) said. According to the SES, fire erupted on the first through the fifth floors of the building located in the capital city's the Podil neighbourhood, Ukrayinska Pravda reported.

Zelensky submits bill to extend martial law in Ukraine
According to the Verkhovna Rada, or Parliament, the bill presented on Monday suggests the extension of the law from 5.30 a.m. on March 26, Ukrayinska Pravda reported. Zelensky first declared the martial law February after Russia launched its military invasion of Ukraine. In a televised address to the nation, the President announced that all able-bodied men from 18-60 years old were not allowed to leave Ukraine as the country began a general mobilisation of all reserve forces.

Camps have been set up near the Ukrainian border in Russia's Rostov and Gomel regions for their accommodation and training, UNIAN reported. "The Russian occupiers continue to accumulate reserves on their territory for waging war against Ukraine," it said.
