The eight-song set marks the first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 by an all-female group since 2008. 'Born Pink' is also the third album by a South Korean act to top the Billboard 200 in 2022, following BTS' (Bangtan Boys) 'Proof' and Stray Kids' 'Stray Kids Mini Album: Oddinary'.

BLACKPINK 's second full-length album, which was released on September 16, beat albums by Suede, Rina Sawayama and other global pop stars on the Official Albums Chart on Friday (BST), YG Entertainment said. The album's lead song, 'Shut Down', and the track 'Pink Venom' placed 24th and 38th, respectively, on the Official Singles Chart.

The announcement was made J-Hope's former agency on Monday, Yonhap news agency reported. The song "Rush Hour" will hit music services Thursday, P Nation said in a release. Crush also unveiled part of the tune combining a funky sound and sensitive voice and teased the song's music video featuring J-Hope on the same day.

The sources said, citing data from local albums sales tracker Hanteo Chart, 'Born Pink' sold 1,011,000 copies on Friday. This marks the first time that any K-pop girl group album has surpassed 1 million on the day of its release. The number is about 1.7 times more than the 589,000 recorded by the band's previous studio album, 'The Album', on its first day. The second album is expected to easily become the first-ever double million seller from any K-pop girl group as it has already surpassed 2 million copies in pre-orders.

The video for its latest single, which was released August 19, hit the milestone at 2:11 a.m. on Saturday, according to YG Entertainment. It achieved the feat in the second shortest time among K-pop female artistes after BLACKPINK's own 'How You Like That' video. The 'Pink Venom' music video garnered 90.4 million views within 24 hours of its release, setting a new record for first-day viewership among female artistes around the world.

The 'Butter' video passed the 800 million threshold about 15 months after it was uploaded online on May 21 last year, the group's agency Big Hit Music said. The upbeat summer song became a global hit upon its release, staying on Billboard's Hot 100 main singles chart for 10 non-consecutive weeks.

The song and its music video will hit various music streaming services and YouTube at 1 p.m. on August 19, YG Entertainment said, reports Yonhap News Agency."The combination of the colour symbolising BLACKPINK and the word meaning poison is intense," a company official said. A week ago, the quartet said in a teaser video that it will prerelease some of the highly anticipated album's tracks this month before dropping the album in September. In October, the group will begin its largest-ever world tour to meet its international fans.

But YG Entertainment said in a video posted on its official blog for announcing broad schedules for the BLACKPINK band's comeback that the group will pre-release some of the upcoming album's tracks this month and officially drop the album in September.

J-Hope is placed 17th on the Billboard 200 with his first formal solo album, 'Jack in the Box', Billboard said on social media Tuesday, reports Yonhap, a news agency. 'Arson', one of the two main singles from the album, landed at 96th on the Hot 100 main singles chart.

"BLACKPINK is now at the final stage of recording its new album. They will embark on the filming of a music video within this month and release new songs in August," YG Entertainment said in a press release, Yonhap news agency reported. It did not give details of the upcoming album but said the band has devoted itself for a long time to completing "multiple tracks featuring the band's signature music style."
