Bumrah has been out of competitive cricket since late September last year, when he pulled out of the home T20Is against South Africa and subsequently missed the Men's T20 World Cup in Australia. He had also missed the Asia Cup held last year in the UAE.

According to an Indian Express report, the BCCI have assigned Laxman as the sole representative to get regular updates from Bumrah. Even the selectors don't have a clear idea about the extent of injury and the surgery that followed. "Not many in the BCCI are aware of his injury. Only VVS Laxman (NCA director) has been assigned to speak to him and the physios."

As per a report by ESPNCricinfo, Bumrah, whose surgery was conducted on Monday, is expected to stay in New Zealand till the end of March and may resume bowling only from August. "The roadmap for his return, as prepared by the BCCI's medical staff, is for him to resume training and bowling by August, and his workload will increase gradually after that, with the plan to get him completely fit for the World Cup," added the report.

One of the players the fans want to see returning to action is Jasprit Bumrah, who is recuperating from his injury and has missed a few series in the last few months. The right-arm quick has not played any cricket since the T20I series against Australia at home in September 2022 and has undergone rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

As per an official statement from the BCCI, Bumrah, who was set to join the team in Guwahati ahead of the ODI series, will need some more time to build bowling resilience. It added that the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure, with no replacement being named in Bumrah's absence, further delaying the competitive cricket comeback of the right-arm fast-bowler.

Bumrah was out of cricketing action since September 2022 and was also ruled out of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup due to a back injury. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon, the BCCI said in a statement on Tuesday.

A social media user tried to mock her and asked her an unpleasant question about her marriage with Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

"So, we can't take such a risk. All the specialists we spoke to were of the same opinion. There is a lot of cricket ahead of him, he will play a lot more and help India win matches. There is no doubt that he will be missed," said Rohit during the captains' day event in Melbourne.

With Jadeja out due to a right-knee injury which needed surgery, Axar Patel was slotted into India's playing eleven as a like-for-like replacement. On the other hand, with Bumrah unavailable due to back injury, senior pacer Mohammed Shami could be promoted from a travelling reserve to 15th player in India's T20 World Cup squad.

After the conclusion of the T20I series against South Africa, head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma have subtly hinted at the possibility of senior pacer Mohammed Shami being promoted from one of the four travelling reserves to the main T20 World Cup squad as Bumrah's replacement.
