The Jabalia camp is the largest of Gaza's eight refugee camps and has a significant population of Palestinian refugees, with over 116,000 refugees registered there by the UN as of July 2023. This camp was established after the 1948 war and is characterized by its small but densely populated area, primarily consisting of residential buildings.

On October 7, a shocking video of Louk emerged from Gaza in which she can be seen paraded naked by Hamas. The video showed passers-by thrashing her and a young boy spitted at her. Louk's father and her cousin have confirmed that they have received an official letter from IDF and Israeli relief agency Zaka that she was brutally murdered.
